Hunter Thrift is running for re-election to City Council in Thomasville, North Carolina. He was born and raised in Thomasville and due to his affinity for the city, he prioritizes “working for a better Thomasville”. He has been actively involved in Thomasville throughout his life. Hunter completed an internship with Thomasville Mayor Raleigh York in 2016. During this time, he learned how important it is to understand budgeting and finance within the city as well as the importance of everyday operation in Thomasville. He has been an active member of the North Carolina Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies in Thomasville for the past six years in addition to being the parade chairman for the past four years. Hunter currently serves on the Davidson County Zoning Board of Adjustments as an alternate member. He is a member of the Thomasville Rotary club where he previously served on the board of Directors. He is also a member of the Thomasville Civitan’s Club. Hunter also served on the Historic Preservation Committee in Thomasville. He attended Davidson County Community College for two years before transferring to The University Of North Carolina at Greensboro where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Liberal studies with a concentration in Humanities and a minor in History. Hunter teaches 6th Grade English and Social Studies within the Davidson County school system.
