We must ensure that the Thomasville City Council partners with the Davidson County School Board, Thomasville City Schools and others to find common sense solutions to progress education forward.
Of all the issues that come before the City Council none are more important than those that impact the quality of our lives. These include access to affordable housing, enhanced public safety, crime reduction and investing in our public schools. Focusing on these issues will provide opportunity for all.
I believe it is of the utmost importance to our city to enhance everyone's quality of life and this isn't just a campaign speech. By following the budget and money spent in our city we can see the priorities of our elected officials and I will work every day to ensure our priorities are front and center and get the attention they deserve.
With new ideas come new opportunities and energy. I believe the City of Thomasville can be an historical city and a modern city at the same time. We don't have to choose a path. By working together, we can implement new strategies and goals which will propel our city to new heights while creating a place people want to relocate to because of good jobs, good schools and an atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome and appreciated.
Great strides have been made in the process of owning and operating a successful business in Thomasville, leading to the “Many new businesses recently opened downtown”., However, we need to focus more on facilitating minority business ownership, working with Economic Development and establishing mentoring and recruitment programs to provide full-time jobs for our residents and keep our graduates here. It is time to make Thomasville "Open for Business" and employment.
